I'm definitely less positive on it than I was a few years prior, but it's still a great season and feels like it would be a perfect ending point for the show. It seemed like the writers realised they were running out of ideas so they started to reflect inward with episodes like Homer's Enemy. Even episodes like the Poochie episode are making fun of the concept of shows that jump the shark and try too hard.
It definitely should have ended there. The drop of with season 9 feels very noticeable.
