Yes. Their skin has to adjust to sun exposure, just like everybody else, so if they don't use sunscreen and sit out in the sun all day, they'll get burned like everyone else. As their skin darkens due to exposure over time, they become more resistant, just as lighter skin people do after longer exposure and a solid tan.
