I watched this last year when I went to oklahoma for training at the FAA air traffic control academy and then had to drive through insane storms that spawned several tornados 10 miles east of us while tornado sirens were blaring at 6am the day before final evals. it was fucking scary as shit

No. It's not very good.
Maybe you could just watch the original one? Even if you've already seen it you'll probably enjoy watching it again more than watching this one. This one is just basically the same as the original one except with a girlbossy lead, generally less likeable/developed cast and bafflingly worse special effects.

Joint Security Area, very gripping Korean movie directed by the guy who would later direct Oldboy.
It starts out kind of slow, but after the focus shifts to investigating the actual incident in the movie it gets REAL good.
Highly recommend watching it. One of those movies where I didn't want to pause
