This was the Marcus Aurelius of Pixar. The decline and fall started soon after and it was pretty swift.

Antonine Plague started it. As the weather started going crazy it messed up crops around the world which led to weak immune systems and this was the big one 1/10 Romans died they were alive or born For 15 years. 1/5 were dead or crippled by the end. The weather kept getting colder and this was pushing people south and making once fertile places to cold. Grapes could grow in England for instance. Then waves of micro plagues, insect and rodent infestations more plagues it got desperate and boom shit hit the fan.

Imagine if for 15 years a never ending plague kept hitting and killed or crippled everyone alive or born during thiat period.
Roughly 70 million Americans dead or crippled

I've cried every time I watched this in recent years including on a flight because it's so sweet but I also got really sad that an Eve would never appear from nowhere and save me.
But it might be happening to now so I'll probably cry even harder next time.

That Antonine dude must have been a real asshole if they named plagues after him.

This movie had such confidence in its target audience of young lil zoomies to not get bored in the first act. To think it's the same generation that group up to only consoom short clips with Subway Surfers in the background.
