>unique cinematography

>Emotional and complex story
that examines themes of child abuse, trauma, and strained Father/Child relationships

>top tier performances (especially from Nick Nolte)

Was it too far ahead of its time? Was it just too slow for sub 100 IQ comic book fans who wanted nothing but “Hulk Smash”? This shit would be getting nominated for Oscar’s if it came out in the post “Joker” era when everyone is tired of standard capeshit.

I saw this shit in theaters and the music is stuck in my head to this day

this movie tanking delayed the MCU by another 10 years, X-men and spidey were supposed to have a collab

It was early capeshit, less formulaic, none of that nonstop snarky banter, actually making some interesting (i.e. risky) choices with editing. And yeah the acting and themes were on point

Ang Lee made the movie seem like it was a comic was interesting. But the villain sucked, we didn't understand him and his powers shown were garbage cgi.
I do like the hulk part of him fighting against the military. But him fighting the absorbing man sucked.

Why is this the only capeshit with interesting action scenes in daylight? It far surpasses anything that came before and after. And it does it for a good 20 minutes from the base escape to the san francisco. I guess you could make an arguement for the first avengers but the physics just work better here.

You can try and turn capeshit into an art house movie but it’s still capeshit and makes it look even more stupid. Got half the movie this psychological drama and then here comes this CGI cartoon Hulk smashing shit. It doesn’t fit

Crazy how I cant think of any. Not even Raimi's Spider-man had him only fighting at night

Night time can hide CGI better. Lee was actually praised for being bold enough to do full on daylight scenes with his Hulk. There was a lot concern of the CGI Hulk. CGI fully accepting of as they are now. I remember a lot of people complaining he too much like a cartoon and should just got a bodybuilder to play him like the TV show
