How does a film that is unapologetic and even self-aware of the comedy about its anti-German sentiment end up depicting the German as a more valourous, honourable, and almost mythical soldier than any Amerimutt Hollywood film has ever been able to depict its own cogs? This German soldier's refusal to betray his comrades, knowingly as the cost of his own life, is on the Legend of Leonidas refusing Xerses' call to surrender. Something that not even 300 was able to top in depiction. I can't tell if this is pathetic or impressive.
