Going with Liam Neeson couldn't have a better choice. I think it's going to be the comedy of the year and will show that Seth McFarlane can still be funny when he tries.

This. I like him in some other movies (like that trucks-on-ice was a pretty good b-tier flick), but comedies and especially the naked gun... He tries too much to be serious-funny and it shows. You don't try too hard, should be natural.

The deciding factor if this will flop or not will be based on the opening segment. The bank fight could fit there, but then the next scene must be the police car POV with the Naked Gun theme playing. If the car segment is missing or the music changed, then this film is toast.

I liked the gag where Liam asked the gal to "take a chair" and she took it literally. That felt like a proper naked gun joke. Besides that, I've low expectations for the film.

This one labors the joke by showing a wide shot of the outside where she drags the chair and he stands there dumbfounded.

It should be a background joke that people notice of their own accord and find funny.

No. You're not going to convince anyone that Seth fucking Macfarlane is going to deliver better comedy than the Zuckers. You're taking a couple of gags and applying them to the entire movie as if there aren't a lot of different jokes happening all the time at different levels of conspicuousness.

It's obvious that people who think the original 1988 Naked Gun wasn't that great simply are too young to properly absorb and appreciate the material. It's not an insult, it's just the truth. Just as I couldn't accurately review a movie from the 60s or 70s because I wasn't there, some zoomer or late millennial isn't ever going to 'get' the ZAZ humor in the way people at the time did.
The Naked Gun is a certified comedy classic up there with Blazing Saddles and The Pink Panther and Dumb and Dumber and fucking Monty Python.
