>>212077508Are any of them bad? Am I wrong that most animes beyond that list are mid at best? At least based off the suggestions I've received from irls, anons online and anime lists, I've had a really shitty experience. Shonenslop like JJK just has horrible writing, OPM, HXH, MHA, etc were all dropped a few episodes in because I didn't even bother investing in stuff that childish. Similarly, stuff like Summertime Rendering with decent premises jump the shark so fucking hard with silly shonen-esque big bad boss villains that you just can't watch it.
Maybe they'd have hit if I was a teen but I'm past that now so characters like Deku are too annoying to bear for longer than an hour. Btw if your anime needs dozens of episodes before it gets good, it's bad. It's as ridiculous as fantasy /lit/ fans that promise that the story gets good by book 3.
There's a lot of animes that can be described as "Meh". You can watch them but it feels like mindless content. Eden of the East is a good example.
Others like Darker than Black are just...I'm not even sure how to describe it beyond exhausting for anyone that is trying to feel immersed in the world. Not due to information overload but the ommision of necessary details whilst simultaneously flooding you with exposition you couldn't care less about. They're good first drafts, a lot of anime feels that way, it's a symptom downstream of the issues of the weekly release structure manga has.
Its not the worst issue from the industry, the business model of trying anything and milking the few successes for decade long runs leads to bloated stories like Bleach and One Piece that could honestly have been told in a fraction of the time if they were released in larger chunks.
