>>212071412 (OP) >Sulla shouted orders to set fire to the houses, and seizing a blazing torch, led the way himself, and ordered his archers to use their fire-bolts and shoot them up at the roofs. This he did not from any calm calculation, but in a passion, and having surrendered to his anger the command over his actions … made his entry by the aid of fire, which made no distinction between the guilty and the innocent.
>>212073123 He claims people just didn't light arrows on fire.

does he have a historical background? a lot of the times it seems like he's just winging it and just using logical deductions for his claims. >throwing knives weren't used as weapons because if you throw a knife you no longer have a knife in your hand and become unarmed >fire arrows didn't exist because they don't work well >people never wore swords on their backs because it's inconvenient to remove them from a scabbard that way
>>212074891 no, you can listen to him, but do keep in mind that just because something is logical, it doesn't necessarily mean it's true. so i'm curious if he's also basing his conclusions on actual research into primary sources and stuff like that.
