Why did Star Wars fags cry about Disney making the EU no longer "canon"?
It literally never was canon at all, George Lucas explicitly said that he considers it a separate universe from his story.

And yet he used ideas from the EU like the name for Coruscant, so obviously it was good enough to for him to use. He also signed off on EU material before it could be created.

And yet he approved it all, if he hadn't gone over every bit of media for approval, he might have been able to distance himself, but authors, illustrators actually had to go to him for approval. So no, he can't get out of it, he's approval lends it some level of canon, no matter how desperately he tries to be detached from it.

Yet nobody argues that Lego Star Wars or the Kinect dance game are canon, they're separate continuities that nonetheless had George's stamp of approval.
Not to mention that Lucas didn't even read most EU content personally, he just required it to adhere to certain guidelines and otherwise allowed the writers to do whatever.

More bullshit, I remember reading articles about how Lucas either read parts of novels or have the bullet points given to him. He was even consulted before during and after the creative process on material just to check on numerous products. Authors had to follow his rules to get published which shows they're working within his canon.

Lucas could only use the "separate universe" lie if he never bothered to have any rules or oversight. He didn't
