I genuinely don't understand the point of increasing the playback speed for anything besides a lecture.
Presumably you are choosing to watch something that you want to watch. Then why do you want the thing that you like to end faster? I would run out of videos that I want to watch pretty quickly at 2x.

there is the rise in long-form 'essay' videos. i've watched a couple friends have sent me, every time i wish it was just an article. text i could read, i am WAITING for some nobody to read to me at speech-pace, it's tedious.

Friends don't send friends hours long videos to watch.
That's a social faux pas. They don't respect your time.

i got too complacent.
>you know what, that actually sounds interesting, link?
^ that's on me, to be fair.

still, bring back the 10-minute time limit. don't care how cheap/fast internet has gotten. reminds me of when video games stop you playing to watch some actors/motion capture animation tell you 'the story'.

Some people.... just talk, a BIT too slowly - it can become aggravating if you JUST... want to get information

there's this whole YouTube genre of zoomers reading out WEeeEEIRD 4chan/Reddit/whatever posts.
could be interesting. glad someone has compiled that. but you are putting the screenshots ON THE SCREEN and then READING THEM TO ME with your. odd. theatrical. cadence? 'and i felt _____ reading this.'

imagine if there was some existing way to show me text and images on the World Wide Web.

There are plenty of three hour movies that don't need to be three hours. And I can enjoy them just fine in 1.5 hours with no problems

I've never done this and I'm baffled at the amount of brainrot required to seriously feel compelled to do it.

You watch something at a different speed, in a different language or without looking at it for the entirety of its runtime you didn't actually watch it.

>You watch something at a different speed
Still watching it
>in a different language
If watching with good subtitles you're doubly watching it because you're also paying closer attention to the dialogue at all times
>without looking at it for the entirety of its runtime
Didn't watch it and add to that skipping as well, if you look away even for a second without pausing or ignore parts of it entirely you simply did not watch it.

I watched 12 hours of kino yesterday in 6 hours. Stop being jealous and seething about my ability to enjoy more kino than you
