I think like everyone else the further they got into the game the more they felt like they had a chance at winning and were more willing to do worse things to get there
I think when the mother called him trash he stopped caring, if they had got the baby away from Gi-hun at the start of the sky squid game he would have killed it, no hesitation

>Calmly allies himself with the Baby Killer Squad but smoothly stays on the sidelines and only speaks up when he needs to manipulate them, and he plays them like a damn fiddle
>Kills Minsu without much fanfare
>Starts dropping other members of the Baby Killer Squad as soon as it suits him; not a moment's hesitation on this guy
>Faces off against the main protagonist as a finalist even though he had no meaningful interactions with him beforehand, nor did he receive much focus up to that point.
For someone who spent most his time on screen a side character, this man has had a VERY eventful (and frankly, impressive) run. I know the show clearly wants us to hate him, but I'm just impressed at his survival instinct and body count of prevalent characters. He's ice cold, does whatever it takes to survive, and he just... fucks shit up for both the good guys and the bad guys whenever he feels like it. I don't know what to call this guy or what kind of archetype he fits under. Is there a media term for a secondary character who comes out of nowhere, fucks up a bunch of named characters, and just up and steals the show?
