he doesn't anymore really. he made 300 by more or less copying the Sin City style and then just failed upwards from there when Nolan picked him to helm MoS. WB realizes the mistake too little too late, and then dropped him and Netflix picked him up since they figured he had a cult fanbase and his shitty flicks would attract those spergs but they too realize they'd been had and dropped him and now he's got nothing.
