It always bothered me how the villain was just some kid they bullied at a young age who's main goal was only to make everyone equal so no one felt left out. It was hard to root for the Super family with all the powers going against one kid who had no powers.

that's why this film is great
the young kid was a dork who didn't "have it"
delusional, probably trans, worthy of ridicule, hurt people by following his delusion, should have known his place and understood his function in society

he was a murdering prick who killed hundreds in his quest for revenge against mr incredible, up to and including blasting his family out of the sky with a missile. and he does this to a guy whose only crime against him was not bringing a child into direct combat against violent supervillains who have no problem killing children - the first thing bomb voyage does when Buddy appears at the start is attach a bomb to the kid's cape. having a problem with the villain's motivation is fine, the movie is pro-exceptionalism so the villain's stated goal of "when everyone is super, no one will be" will seem bad to some and good to others, but syndrome is a violent, murderous asshole who deserved worse.

This movie was basically jocks vs the nerd. The jock and his family bullied a nerd. The nerd wants revenge by giving everyone the ability to stand up to the jock and his privileged family and the jock gets butt hurt he won't be special anymore.

was that his real main goal tho ???
how did killing off superheroes help him achieve this goal ???
why did he have robots attack the city and start larping as a hero ???
why didn't he just make everyone equal without all the mind games and killings????
you're brown and I hate you.

It was the "I'm going to kill innocents to make myself a hero and then I'll make everyone super" that made him evil.
He'd be much more nuanced if he was capturing and killing supers to develop his technology, which he was then going to distribute to the world.

Syndrome is a remarkably well thought out villain considering this is a kids' movie, you sympathise with his motivations/origins but you fault his methods and cruelty. But of course this shouldn't surprise us because this movie came out at a time where even children's entertainment was considered worth being high quality. Hell when you think about it incredibles is unironically a better, more well-rounded and more thematically powerful film than the vast majority of ADULT films released today.

the most unrealistic part of the movie, and I would consider it a flaw, is that he implied that he would give other people superpowers.
The film would make a lot more sense if it was the nerdy kid engaging in a technological arms race to kill his ubermensch enemies and keep the power for himself. The motive is weak.

Syndrome is a great villain for being truly villainous in a human way. WHY was he doing good in the first place? For recognition. He doesn't get that recognition, his hero tells him to go away, in spite of his great talents. So he gets revenge. He was never doing good for goodnesses sake or to help others or to make the world a better place, he was being selfish. This is very real and there are loads of people like this who feel they get moral license to be a bad person because they were wronged, especially if they were wronged by a good person. This has nothing to do with doing what's right and all about the persons own ego. If you relate to Syndrome or feel that he's sympathetic, you need to ask why until you realize the only extent of sympathy he ever deserved was a 'that's rough man' for when Mr Incredible dismissed him, and no more.

The whole point is that syndrome took the wrong message from mr incredibles rejection of him.

“He rejected me because I don’t have powers” rather than “he rejected me because I’m to young to be doing this”

Hence the whole “i’ll make a robot that only I can defeat” so he can have the glory while making real hero’s feel powerless

The making everyone else super is his retirement plan

“And when I'm old and I've had my fun, I'll sell my inventions so that everyone can be superheroes. Everyone can be super. And when everyone's super...no one will be.”

PEOPLE ARE NOT EQUAL you midwit retard. some are smarter, some are less smart, some are stronger, some are weak. trying to turn everyone into the same is an inherantly stupid, impossible idea, and more over is evil because its rooted in jealousy.

why does everyone have to be the same? why do you hate those who stand out and are exceptional? because you're a jealous immature child

people will be better than you in almost everything. maturing is accepting that.

Sure mr incredible could have explained things to him better (but to be fair if he encouraged anything to do with crime fighting he would have been dog piled with lawyers if anything had happened)
