You mean Nickelodeon?
They were obsessed with green slime and "pies in the face" in the 90s

Ty

Turns out I was thinking of something else entirely. It was a childrens style game show from, let’s say 1995-2003, and the host had really whacky tall jimmy neutron hair, and he was kind of a Willy Wonka type of character and there was lots of candy and shit

Does this ring a bell for anyone? Shot in the dark

In heavy rotation too. Cable did not have a lot of content in the 80s. If I remember correctly Nick was mostly old cartoons, Nick at night showing 50s and 60s since the modern equivalent of Nick at night would be shows from the 90s and 2000s, I feel old as fuck now.

I was there (quite elderly now, age 50). Nick in the early 80s was this, Pinwheel (a rollup of cheap Canadian and off-brand cartoons and puppet skits), random specials, rock concerts (I first learned the Who existed from their farewell concert special that was advertised constantly), weird Brit or Canadian live-action kinda scary shit (to 8 year old me, anyway, Tomorrow People or Quatermass, etc).

Mid/late 80s they went to Nick at Nite after 6 or 7 PM which was cool, got to jerk off to Donna Reed while I was entering puberty.

The last filmed episodes were taped at the end of 1989 but aired in 1990.
Everything after that was weekends.

Moose Slime
Moose Slime
md5: 5de6c6695cfcf3d5ae7a444fe1ac2de1🔍
Slime is a huge part of Nickelodeon's identity and it all came about by chance. They were filming a scene for 'You Can't Do That On Television' where they were going to dump food scraps from the cafeteria on a kid's head. Problem was, they ran out of time. Canada's child labor laws were very strict so no one was allowed to go even one minute over the limit. When they came back the next week and picked up filming where they had left off, the bucket of food scraps had been overtaken by mold. Green slime was born and became a major part of the show. When Nickelodeon started broadcasting it in the US, it became their most popular show. They started using slime in other shows and it never stopped.
