I always enjoyed first one more than second one, that i enjoyed a lot as well, because Norman there is way more sinister and closer to Peter and Peter's family than Dr. Octopus.
Its more thrilling and suspenseful movie.
Second one is more about Peter and Peter's struggles, while main villain is more of a sideplot, so while it might be overall more complex movie, its still less rewatchable for me.
But thats like "100 rewatches of SM1 vs 50 rewatches of SM2".
Both movies are great.

MJ definitely looks better in 1 than in 2

Norman is also more believable than Octavius because he's already an asshole and later has moments of regret while his mind is being taken over.
Octavius is a nice guy who becomes a cartoon villain until his last minute redemption.

Spiderman 2 is perfectly action/drama. It's more melancholy and introspective and because of that it gives more emotional depth which makes the story and characters more compelling and captivating. Spiderman 2 is one of those rare movies that make me cry, not just because of nostalgia but because it's deeply relatable when it comes to growing up

it's bizarre that the raimi movies are the only movies where spider-man saving people is a big throughline and is ultimately paid off by the people coming to save him from green goblin. like yeah other superhero movies have people getting saved as obligatory scenes but then they just run off the screen so the hero can punch stuff.
