The speech is a humiliation ritual for the salesmen who are forced to listen to this lecture from a corporate asshole from the head office or lose their jobs. Its not supposed to be a good speech its supposed to be condescending and disrespectful.

It always irritated me that in the movie it was never made very clear what the title of Glengarry Glenross really meant other than the one mention to the Glengarry leads being the good leads and they're being given shitty land to sell instead. I assume in the play it was more obvious.

With other undertones. He's "too good" to be there, probably pissed at whoever makes him do it. He knows the leads are shit and he overdoes his performance because he knows he has no leg to stand on. He knows he would be right there with them in other circumstances, that scares him. He imagines himself back here, that scares him. (he steals the leads) He has an "ass-kicker" reputation to maintain. He is angry his reputation will falter when these losers don't improve. All this infuriates him to the point where he lashes out at anything, like the coffee pot, or a breezy attitude.
