With Superman I'm sure they will be happy to give it the benefit of the doubt as the "new" big time attempt at DCU and the "first" real Gunn DC movie, but I don't see it having much legs unless the word of mouth is phenomenal.

This one is gonna be fun to watch, not the movie but the reception. my guess is that itll be a flop

My aunt's husband died and she asked me to show her what movies were playing because she misses going to the movies and getting a big thing of popcorn, but when I read the list to her she was not interested in literally anything (and neither was I) and so we have shelved that plan for now. Sometimes theaters replay movies from back before everything sucked major ass and the messaging of the films felt good and full of white people, so i will keep my eyes out for that for her.

Superman is still very relevant. To think otherwise is the real delusion. Everyone is hungry for a GOOD Superman film. The last superman film was MoS which failed to make a billion even at the height of the superhero genre because it was a letdown. It didn't feel at all like a Superman film and it was very poorly written. James Gunn's Superman IS a Superman film and is guaranteed to be well written too. And the rotten tomatoe score is very important because GAs are very hesistant to give a DC film another shot because of all the failed and poorly made movies courtesy of Zack Snyder and co. So when they see the good reviews they'll flock to it and the film will make 1 billion easily.

Superman movie flopped before Snyder, with Superman Returns, which was a light hearted super hero movie sandwiched between Batman Begins and X-Men 3 (which outgrossed it). MoS came out and made 670 million dollars, with inflation that is 920 million dollars.
Gunn is also one of the main marvel guys behind quipshit that people have gotten tired of with shit like Thunderbolts. Superman is guaranteed flop and the marketing has only resulted in shots being removed from the film.
