I have my theory. Leather and latex are basically opposite sides of the same coin.
Someone with regular sexuality would be attracted to various human features, which includes skin of course, and humans have different skin, some people have rougher skin some people have softer and smoother skin. A person might find one attractive and the other not, or sometimes one can find both attractive. Leather and latex are idealized versions of skin but to the opposite sides, leather being rough and hard and latex being smooth and soft. Someone with a fetish for those just has an extreme variant of attraction to skin-like surfaces where just regular variations of skin are not enough.
