Why are people mad?

From the start it was over-the-top chaotic fun. Season 3 was over-the-top chaotic fun. Did stupid ppl fool themselves into believing they were watching a story of high quality?

Sometimes you just have to enjoy a ride for what it is. It's the same deal with the manga it was deriving from, Kamisama no Iutoori. Just a run crazy ride and nothing more.

The difference is that season 1 had a climax with emotional stakes. The whole story had been building towards the final showdown between Gi-hun and Sang-woo. the entirety of season 1 have a consistent theme and build up culminating in the face off in the actual squid game between the main character and his childhood friend who he played the same game with as kids. Season 3 just has him act all depressed then kill himself for some random bitch's baby after facing off with some guy he talked to maybe twice.

It was a completely bankrupt story that obviously used up all of it's good ideas and was just trying to cash in on an unneeded sequel.

Season 1 was tightly written and it was good.
Season 2 I thought it was a terrific sequel, even things people said were "bad" were things I liked
even the first 4 or so episodes of Season 3 were good
but I cannot forgive that fucking ending
the director fumbled HARD and he ruined every single character's development just for that fucking baby subplot
the "baby is a player" thing felt so fucking forced and you can't convince me otherwise

The true finale of the show was the ending of season 2 when the rebellion failed. The message of the show is basically capitalism sucks, communism sucks, democracy sucks, and everything in-between, because people inherently suck. Every revolution fails on a long enough timeline because society always regresses to the mean.

It was a ridiculous idea in the first place. Squid-sama knew the circles were going to rush them at night and still chose to go after the organizers sacrificing a bunch of the people who actually DID want to leave the game in the process instead of preemptively striking the blues and forcing a leave result at the next vote.
