It took way too long for him to put the suit on and fly because of that stupid rule, but one thing this show did heads and shoulders above any other adaptation was build up the shear GRAVITAS of Superman. Maybe that was BECAUSE it was such a long prequel.

Smallville is a weird show. Can't hate on it because it is a Superman show. Can't love it because of the stupid breadcrumbing episodic storytelling.

The whole show is about goading the audience with notions of "When is Lana going to learn the SHOCKING truth about Clark Kent!"... and you spend 6 seasons (Years as the episodes were released each week hanging on to this show). Only when she did find out, she leaves the show gets replaced with Lois who spends the next 3 years doing the same fuckin' thing... where the final season turns out to be a rip-off of the old Lois n' Clark TV show from the 90s....

Yet in certain episodes they stick the landing with the emotional turmoil. And the girls were hot... even hotter when you realize certain behind the scene weirdness with Allison Mack's sex cult. (Can't have a Smallville thread, without mention NVIXM).....
