Resident Evil has probably the best, most varied visuals, of any zombie/horror film series.

Being all over the place isn't a good thing. Find a style and stick to it. I only like the first and second movies

It's not over the place, though. Each film deliberately shift away from the previous film's style in a calculated way. They also completely change the music style every few films. The last 3 never use the music motifs from the first 3, which is a bold and effective move. Way too many franchises use musical callbacks.
>I only like the first and second movies
Mind you, people like you often can't handle the franchise purposefully pivoting away from what you liked. But for example, 3 is the deliberate antithesis of everything 2 represented. So if you liked 2, you might not like 3.

Resident Evil follows the Star Wars model.
Films 1, 2, and 3 are directed by different people each time. Then the original director comes back to the director's chair of his experimental new trilogy that is super different to the ones before it. Just like Lucas and his SW prequels.

Why would anyone ever want something to pivot away from what they like?
>3 is the deliberate antithesis of everything 2 represented. So if you liked 2, you might not like 3.
I did think 3 was a piece of shit, but if it was deliberately shitty, why is that good?

I just don't like this style to begin with. I'll take any Romero flick or Fulci flick over this look. This CGI shit doesn't suit zombies.

That's not actually CG. Those are all real sets.
>Why would anyone ever want something to pivot away from what they like?
To keep things fresh. One of the problems you saw with Romero is he was never able to adapt his zombies to anything other than making the same movie he'd been making for decades.

Romero got lucky, his entire filmography is trash.
