Why do they still make them? Seems like the creative capacity of directors in that genre has pretty much tapped out.

They're not even scary anymore they're just gross and negative with no redeeming value. I'm not OP even though this sounds like a followup post.

Horror just sucks now.
The Conjuring and IT has done irreparable damage to the genre. Now every horror movie is filled with shitty overused jumpscares. Nothing actually scary or unsettling anymore.

Not the industry's fault you can't find a movie you'll enjoy, there's been plenty of good shit since 2005

Horror is the most stupid genre ever. No, dark rooms and zombies aren't scary.

it has literally never been easier to find non jump scare horror than any time in cinema history. there are so so many movies where the scariest thing is like a whisper in Latin and the girl sees the devil's shadow on the wall for like 8 seconds but is too scared to turn around and look at him

Ok name 5 good horror movies from the past 15-20 years. Seems like nowadays it's always
>some retards play with a ouija board and then a demon jump scares them for two hours
>some blurry skay bullshit about cryptids or whatever
>"Liminal horror" or whatever zoomers think is scary about watching empty hallways and waiting rooms
>some fag in a clown suit killing people in over the top ways

I understand this sentiment. I watched Longlegs last night and had fun with it (and Maika Monroe is hot) but it still didn't unsettle me as much as I would have wanted from something marketed as an insanely scary psychological thriller. Hopefully Oz Perkins' next movie Weapons lives up to it's marketing somewhat.

A lot of those are garbage. Horror fans have Stockholm syndrome, I swear. Apologetic towards the worst shit.

Am I gay for liking Smile? I don't watch horror often and I marathoned 1 and 2 the other month. 2 was still okay but re-used a lot of the same tricks as the first one, but I quite enjoyed the first one as a non-horror watcher typically
I liked Barbarian also recently, fell apart a bit in the 3rd act but it seems like lots of horror movies do

I was like that with paranormal activity 4. Never was into horror movies before that and hadn’t seen the first 3. Horror fans would say I have shit taste but I don’t respect them as people.
