Mel did no value judgment of jungle rule. Might is right. We got a view "inside" a doomed civilization. Exotic, lots of customs and it hamstrung itself without innovation to keep up with external threats.

The setting and incredible talent in its depition is the main draw yes. Mel putting the plot of Payback on it was just needed to tie scenes together. Plotfags like you need not apply.
