>>212139238 (OP) Iโve heard it said that Woody Allen is protected by NYC because his films glamorize the city, heโs good for publicity. Maybe Tarantino is the same way, he knows who butters his bread.
There Will be Blood - LA in the 1910s The Master - LA in the 50s Inherent Vice - LA in the 60s Licorice Pizza - LA in the 70s Boogie Nights - LA in the 80s Magnolia - LA in the 90s Punch-Drunk Love - LA in the 2000s
Itโs a sure way to make money pandering to large population which naturally have large subcultures and paying for transport of cast crew and equipment is expensive not that complicated

I remember a hollywood writer indirectly explaining it in a short story he wrote. LA used to be a white city and people moved to it for a better life. Demographic change happened rapidly over the decades. These people still remained but the place changed. So thats what they write about.

>>212144794 do you really think you can say tarantino lacks imagination by any metric? dude sets it in LA because he loves the city and grew up there, do you think his movies would be any better if the city they were set in was different?
