/tv/ doesn't like it because it has a female protagonist
anons here try their best to hate Fury Road too even though it's hands down considered one of the greatest films ever made.
This is not as good as Fury Road but it's close.

This place is full of dimwits, they don't know anything about cinema. Ask them to actually explain why they think something and you'll see they're mostly coomerbrained burnouts, turdworlders, or weirdo pol obsessed incels.

I rewatched Fury Road (2nd time) and then watched this (1st time).
Fury Road was worse than I remember, only held up by the great visuals of the wasteland car combat. Furiosa was a 5/10, both of them had bad casting for the female leads but Furiosa was much worse.

It's better than what people were saying about it. Not as a good as Fury Road, but what is? Definitely has some cool action sequences and isn't the I Am Woman Hear Me Roar movie people were making it out to be.
The movie is REALLY in love with the world that Fury Road created and a lot of this is just backstory for it...which is FINE but part of me would like something new.

That's never been my complaint for Furiosa. My main issues are that the story isn't particularly compelling, the action set pieces aren't as grand and subdued comparative to Fury Road, it feels a tad too long for the story being told and the pacing can drag as a result and the film looks ugly and over-produced.

Warner Bros were absolutely seething about the film underperforming at the box office. I think the home video performance re-energised their love for it but you'd think they would have realised that market is now gone and adjusted the budget accordingly. I guess you could argue the budget was less if you factor inflation but regardless it was still way too high and has basically ensured we won't see another actual Mad Max film now.

No, Fury Road. It was a success on DVD and Blu Ray which saved it after an underwhelming box office performance. That market doesn't exist anymore and Furiosa flopped in cinemas and had no secondary market to save it.

There's almost no feminism in Fury Road or Furiosa. I think the issue is that people don't know what feminism is, or what a feminist piece of art looks like, typically they are way more critical of social, economic, and political systems.
Sans the three remaining Vuvalini that we meet at the end of the film, the women in Fury Road are all slaves, including Furiosa. They try to escape and people claim it's women empowerment, despite Max almost single handily overpowering them while he's low on blood, thirsty, and hardly sane. And they wouldn't have made it as far had he (and eventually Nux) not helped them with their escape. These women still rely on men to get anything done.

>Never heard that, Fury Road was a commercial success
Not in cinemas. It more of less broke even but it was a hit on home market.
>Furiosa on the other hand flopped, entirely due to negativity.
It flopped because it was a prequel in a film series, with the main protagonist completely absent, telling a story that didn't need to be told 10 years after any hype of previous film had died down, with an actress completely at odds with the previous depiction. It's also not a very good movie which meant poor word or mouth fuelled an already heavy lack of interest.
>Its a much better film.
It's really not. Not even close. Had it been a better film word of mouth could've helped it. A lot of the negativity would stem from what is ultimately a middling and forgettable film.

I think you're vastly over-estimating their impact. As I said had the film been better it would have offset any negativity from youtubers or whatever.
When the average joe is seeing it and their opinion is "it was okay" or more likely "it wasn't as good as the last one" that's not going to drive interest and that's the kind of word of mouth that truly has an impact.

if they have to employ the services of a tenth rate joke of a company that operates entirely as a parasite, then it is something so lowly and dreadful that I can only benefit from not seeing it.
on top otd that, the original films were not respected, so why bother with senile plastic rubbish.
the worst thing was the 70 iq idiots that the viral marketing and forced memes worked on then worked for free and some continue to do so to this day, by spreading the dreck further

If it had been released two years after Fury Road it would've been much better received.

Why are you turning this around on us? Western entertainment (not just tv & film but games too) shifted course in response to certain cultural and political events around a decade ago. It has had a particularly big effect on female action characters. You can consider it a positive or negative but that is undeniably what happened.

The Mad Max game, used all of the notes Miller left behind through the years with Warner Bros. Miller bought a game studio and tried to make his own game but Warner beat him to the finish line. It's amazing that he's still willing to work with them despite how they've been treating him. That's why we didn't get a Mad Max sequel after Fury Road, Warner owed Miller bonus money for making Fury Road under budget, they wouldn't pay and had to go to court. In the meantime Miller stopped working on any Mad Max stuff but there were lots of notes for Furiosa so when the lawsuit was settled we got a Furiosa prequel instead of a Max movie. The video game doesn't even credit George Miller, they even used notes for FUTURE Mad Max movies, and put that shit into the games. Pure insanity and there really should be some type of consequences for this on WB but they co-own the rights, so more lawsuits wouldn't do much.

Miller is better than most people, if you can't tell from his interviews, he's super chill, almost non confrontational. I think his logic is that it's better to just keep making the movies than spending almost another decade in court, not doing anything at all.

I will never watch that film. I think an unregistered factor is being pissed at Thor for being a fucking bitch and letting marvel turn him into a fat faggot who gives Thor's power to his girlfriend.

Anything that has a female protagonist in order to have a female protagonist is automatic garbage, even if brilliant. The intent destroys the presentation. One drop of woke poisons the entire barrel.

It's true, The Gorge was received remarkably positive among those types even though most chudtubers hated it so obviously there's more at play than just blind dislike of women characters

The Gorge is no where as good as Furiosa. Furiosa is one of the most highly rated movies of 2024. I like The Gorge but I also wasn't expecting it to be a good movie at all, and it wasn't good, it's just not as bad as it was expected to be. It's specifically just 4chan that has an issue with action movies and women, no where else do you see these discussion and reactions.

It was far more entertaining than Furiosa. Just the beginning of that film alone was embarrassing stuff. I don't give a fuck about critics and critical consensus kek

I see these discussions and reactions on X, YouTube, probably other platforms too so with "no where else" you're probably referring to reddit and the reason for that is it's the most censored/curated platform besides maybe Bluesky.
