It's not bad. There is no real antagonist so they should have played up the driver rivalry more before becoming mates at the end. Too many crashes, they crashed on accident too much to be F1 drivers.

He spent the last few years filming this. They shot everything in 2023 then had to reshoot all the racing scenes over as F1 changed sponsors and would only allow the new sponsors to be used in the film.

Good movie, except the ending. I get what they were going for but it's quite dumb and makes the character seem autistic while also not really paying off any of his relationships he spent the entire movie building up with his love interest, the younger driver, and his friend who owns the team.

Definitely, but also for similar reasons. F1 isn't really that good of a movie storytelling wise. It's more or less just your standard sports movie but with Brad Pitt, but it's well paced and the racing scenes are cool and plentiful.

MI:8 had cool stunts but it spends so much time with dour, self-serious exposition and wanking off Cruise as the messiah of movies that it sinks itself. It isn't fun enough to be action kino and it isn't smart enough to actually be compelling as a serious action drama, while F1 just recognizes what it is and goes for the former. It's kind of just like a not as good version of Top Gun 2 but with cars instead of jets.
