I always assumed in a situation like this your entire day would just be working.
>wake up
>make sure you have fresh water
>catch some food
>keep fire going
>make tools
>improve shelter and living conditions
>catch food
>sleep
>repeat
I think the improve living conditions part would be the bulk of your day

It certainly would for the first couple months.
But once you made a sufficient shelter, had some backups of food (dried, cured fish) and water you'd be looking to conserve energy by resting or finding something to pass the time with.
You don't want to overfish the waters creating wastage and fresh water is a waiting game when you're set up anyway.

Assuming you're not the type of person to deforest the island because you wanted an outhouse and a gazebo there would eventually be nothing for you to do.

why would you need to keep the fire going this would limit how far you can travel on the island. once you get good at making fires they are easier to start he leveld up his firemaking to the point he could make them and having charcoal helps too

You'd be making tools like cutting instruments so you can carve tools like forks, spoons, containers for cooking, water storage. Stuff like hooks, nets, spears constantly maintaining everything. Collecting firewood to sterilise water and cook food.

If you got all that squared away then it'd be onto making a canoe. Once that's done it's an outrigger.

As well as ways bigger and bigger ways to signal for boats planes to see you are in distress.

Your day would be full in fact you'd probably have so much going on every day from shit breaking and needing maintenance to just general tasks their probably isn't enough light in the day to do it all. You'd probably be doing a lot of stuff under firelight before bed like mending a net or making a better fork etc.....

Little known facts: The package he never opened is revealed in the novel to have contained ice, the one thing he missed most of all. He could have had ice the whole time and maybe even used it to freeze the water and walk out of there. Also, the character Wilson does not appear in the book. It was added by Hanks to reference one time when he slapped his wife Rita Willson until his hand bled.

Read Industrial Society and It's Future by Good Old Uncle Ted. He clearly states that the natural state of man has been to spend the vast majority of his day just doing tasks to ensure his survival, hunting food, securing drinkable water, building/maintaining a fire, building a house and tools etc. Now Tom Hanks likely could not live on the island for as long as he did, look up Chris McCandless and other people who thought they could survive alone in any wild environment really, and those guys had proper supplies an plenty of man-made things at their disposal.

But, anon is right. He'd be spending all day long doing what I described above, anyone who disagrees is retarded, and yes, he probably did do a good amount of gooning and screaming racial slurs as loud as he could, along with building and designing as much Nazi iconography as possible, as any reasonable man would, because you're probably going to die there anyway, and you want whoever discovers your island and you to have some kino to explore.

Mano was the first to reach land; weak from hunger and dehydration, he could not stand but called out that he had safely reached shore, and the rest followed him.[7] After escaping the sea, the boys dug a cave by hand and hunted seabirds for meat, blood, and eggs.

Initially, they were desperate for food and water, but their situation improved after three months when they discovered the ruins of the village of Kolomaile in the island's volcanic crater, following a two-day climb.[8] They revived the remnants of 19th century habitation, surviving on feral chickens, wild taro, and bananas; they captured rainwater for drinking in hollowed-out tree trunks. They drank blood from seabirds when they did not have enough water.[7] The boys divided up the labour, teaming up in pairs to work garden, kitchen, and guard duty.[6] One of the boys, Stephen (who would go on to become an engineer), managed to use two sticks to start a fire, which the boys kept burning continuously for more than a year while marooned.

> He clearly states that the natural state of man has been to spend the vast majority of his day just doing tasks to ensure his survival, hunting food, securing drinkable water, building/maintaining a fire, building a house and tools etc.

Ted was too lazy to even do that. 99% of the stuff he used was made in a factory.
