It's fine for its time and that's really it.
Blows my mind people still attempt to hold it up as some sort of pillar when both writing and camera work are thoroughly mediocre.
Considering the 4h runtime and how esteemed it is, it should have more memorable scenes than it does.

Excellent bait.
Really, this is as good as bait gets. You did not overplay your hand. You try to provoke seething rage with just a toned-down, well-balanced statement.
This is 10/10 bait, I really congratulate you for it. It is rare to see bait of such high quality here.
Good job, anon.

It's not bait.
I'm genuinely baffled by all the praise this keeps getting.
If I had to compare it to a recent release, it would be The Batman, which is worse, no doubt, but suffers from very similar issues and has a reputation I don't think it deserves.

And that, just now, WAS overplaying your hand.
Rule number 1 is you don't double down on your bait. Never attempt to convince someone who acknowledges your bait, that it wasn't bait. The key point to really good bait is that it remains completely believable. Showing desperation to sell the bait runs counter to that goal.
You have posted really, REALLY good bait. Learn to take a "yes" for an answer and don't ruin it in on the way to the finish line.

What film? What are you talking about? I understand Lawrence was a homosexual but also deeply disturbed by the violation of that rape.

Can we speedrun our conversation?
You have posted bait.
I know you have posted bait.
You know that I know that you have posted bait.
I know that you know that I know that you have posted bait.
This back-and-forth seems like an empty ritual: Just acknowledge that you got praised for your excellent bait and move on.

There is a healthy faggot influence in this movie. I have a hard time believing that Lawrence was such a sissy in his normal interactions, especially at that time, for a military officer. (he might enjoy a small measure of fruity leeway since he went to a fancy university) He was an awkward, pent-up, yet legendary leader who took massive risks and died riding a motorcycle too fast? Something doesn't add up. I think Lawrence was lot more intrepid in his demeanor.

>The men were young and sturdy; and hot flesh and blood unconsciously claimed a right in them and tormented their bellies with strange longings. Our privations and dangers fanned this virile heat, in a climate as racking as can be conceived. We had no shut places to be alone in, no thick clothes to hide our nature. Man in all things lived candidly with man.
>The Arab was by nature continent; and the use of universal marriage had nearly abolished irregular courses in his tribes. The public women of the rare settlements we encountered in our months of wandering would have been nothing to our numbers, even had their raddled meat been palatable to a man of healthy parts. In horror of such sordid commerce our youths began indifferently to slake one another's few needs in their own clean bodiesโ€”a cold convenience that, by comparison, seemed sexless and even pure. Later, some began to justify this sterile process, and swore that friends quivering together in the yielding sand with intimate hot limbs in supreme embrace, found there hidden in the darkness a sensual co-efficient of the mental passion which was welding our souls and spirits in one flaming effort. Several, thirsting to punish appetites they could not wholly prevent, took a savage pride in degrading the body, and offered themselves fiercely in any habit which promised physical pain or filth.

This movie has one huge plus that justifies all the minuses - the attitude towards the Turks. And no, they are not only homo rapists who deserve to die, there was one guy from the Turkish squad on the train who shot Lawrence near the train, he behaved quite heroically.

Without this thing there would be no Dune, Star Wars, Dances with Wolves, Avatar, and all those "I'm an oddball in my own society, but I gradually integrate into a society of militant idiots and help them fight an evil dictatorship, while getting psychologically scarred in the process" type stories.

Except all those things ALWAYS ignore prison gay rape.
