Because Snyder's movies 100% emphasize cool shots and exaggerated slow mo action scenes, often even at the expense of the very themes in the movie he's trying to portray, to be as badass as possible. This is basically how Bollywood movies are done, Snyder just has more money to play with most of the time. It's a natural fit. Snyder also invites contrarians because the MCU was popular and mainstream at the time while Snyder movies tried to be mature and intelligent melodramas ( they aren't, but they're kind of like a teenager who is wearing a suit so they give off the appearance of looking more mature than they are ) so people could cope that their capeshit was art.

Sort of like how Michael Bay is just obsessed with practical explosions, hot babes, fast cars and rotating the camera from a low angle shot because it looks cool. Except Michael Bay realized he was terrible at attempting to make dramatic shit after Pearl Harbor and so just stuck to making bombastic action movies which he excels at while Snyder still thinks of himself as an auteur.

WB is the Square Enix of movies. I have no doubt the movie will make between 700-800 million, and it'll be critically liked. Audiences will also like it. However, WB wants a sure billion with this movie. They have restarted the DCEU like three times now and they desperately need the win. Their videogame division is in the shitter with Rocksteady and Netherrealm delivering hot garbage, and they've had to cancel games when it comes to DC properties. Their most profitable ventures haven't even been DC. Barbie, Minecraft, Dune, and Harry Potter have.

Anything less than a billion, and Gunn is fucked. Suicide Squad was a flop, Creature Commandos was a mixed bag. Then he goes and makes Superman with the same team of misfits formula that he has done with every movie he's made since the first GotG. I don't think WB is willing to "trust the process" and will panic when Superman struggles to hit 700 million. It barely could when theaters were at their height with capeshit.
