You can be an extraordinary comedian and never make it anywhere beyond just living on the road and doing clubs for the rest of your life. There are a lot of occupations like that of course, but comedy is brutal. You have to have some problems in general to be funny and while you are working as a comedian you're not solving your problems and in fact you're probably feeding them and picking up new ones. So if you are a guy like Larry David who makes it through the clubs, gets the TV show, and even then becomes a millionaire, you are rich and that's great, but you're also likely to be a special sort of fucked up individual still compared to an actor or CEO or any of the other people you might find around you.
