I’m rewatching the original Jurassic Park for the first time in years, probably over a decade. It’s striking how fake the dinosaurs actually look. Obviously it’s not as bad as Jaws and would’ve been far worse if they had used stop motion typical of monster movies at the time, but it’s the CGI and animatronic work stand out like a sore thumb when they looked completely real when I was a kid.

it's funny how 4k can make really old movies look amazing and fresh, but makes any movie with special effects look like shit, unless it was made recently

The only way to watch it is the 4K Universal UHD with the Cinema DTS audio. If you have a nice sound system (and projector!) it's just like watching it in the theater.

I'm sure it was fine on your laptop though...

If I don't remember bad, back in the day (around 1993, when the film came out), there was no 2K, nor 4K. In normal TVs there wasn't so much details that let you understand it was a fake effect.

it's a flat movie, in today standards would be a capeslop movie with a bunch of cool scenes but nothing more, it just ends.
