This ended up working in the narrative's favor because most of the fights after the first one were either highly embellished or outright didn't happen. You get a sense of how Qin and Nameless view the other characters based on how they embellish or make up the stories.

What's great about this movie is that they just jump on water and other magic nonsense without any explanation whereas if it were a western movie you'd have the main character's comic relief sidekick shouting "You can FLY?!"

I remember being excited to see this because my older brother and his friend were taking me and my friend to see it. I was like 11 or 12, and it was the first time seeing a movie in theaters without my mom, and also my first movie in theaters at night. They were hyping it up to me saying it was going to be nonstop kung fu goodness. Then I was bored to tears by it and was so confused why people thought it was good (except my friend, he agreed with me that it was boring as fuck)

One of my old roommates, a taiwanese woman said the ending of crouching tiger hidden dragon wasn't a downer suicide ending, that's westerner ignorance.
It's an ambiguous anything could have happened eastern movie ending and she might have lived and gone on to meet her horselord boyfriend once again.

Hero is an incredible movie and one of the best looking films ever made.
It's such a shame there's no proper blu-ray because the chinese are notorious for not preserving their film negatives.

Christopher Doyle is one of the best cinematographers around and if you want to see more of his stunning work but in a more recent film, check out the japanese title "They Say Nothing Stays the Same"

Living with women is disgusting, don't do it unless you're related or married and preferably not even then. You have no idea what the bathrooms are like. And the food they ate was fucking disgusting.
But what gets me most is they would never close their fucking mouths at all when they ate, like they were comically trying to make the most repulsive sounds whenever they ate soup which was every day.
Good roommates though they paid rent on time and no noise complaints.

I’ve watched this movie like 3 times and I can never remember it. It has some really pretty moments visually and was clearly riding off the hype of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, but it failed to make me feel invested in any of the characters.
