Is it contrarian to say the show was better?

Police Squad is saved by having as short of a run as it did. It was already starting to get a bit repetitive by the end of the season. You just can't keep cranking out gags as great as the ones in Airplane on a weekly basis.

OJ sucked and it was a insult to have him take the nordberg character from peter lupus who barely got any lines in mission impossible.

I think I still prefer the movie trilogy to the series even though I love both. Perhaps if I'd seen the series first I'd feel differently. Some gags from the series are recycled in the movies so they might miss the impact if you'd seen them first in that. I also miss George Kennedy and OJ in the series.

There are plenty of normalfags who love the movies but hardly even heard of the show

Regardless, the premise worked better for a TV show because it was directly spoofing cop show cliches of the day. The movies had to compensate for that with more broad comedy.

Not at all. Most of the jokes in the movie were just re-used ones from the show.

No. But there was room to tell a lot more jokes in several episodes as opposed to 70-90 minutes, the writers were younger and fresher, there was no worry about getting the attention of the vaunted 12-35 normie male demographic, and they weren't worried about competing with post 1989 fart humor comedy that dominated the 1990s.

The Untouchables parody in 3 is still top tier kino. No comedy movie today would have the balls to mock IRL shit like that.

The crook freeing himself was great. I wish they had him go through the cops pockets and take their wallets before he tried to leave.
