>>212173027depends on what type of content you watch, the screen you use, its OS, and if you're using a tv box or only the tv app. Maybe even if you're plugged directly into the screen or not. I think you have to try, if it suits your needs.
I have a LG TV and want to watch 4k thing with subtitles over wifi, but without buying an expensive 200$ tv box on top of that. It may be one of the worst possible usecase, but I figured it out after some months.
from what I remember:
Plex is good but a lot of advanced features are not free, playing 4k video without loss of quality for free seems impossible
Emby was good, but they fucked up the subtitles rendering of their app on the lg monitor at some points, and then I lost some sub format supports. It was pretty annoying and I don't like how the devs pretended my tv never supported this format and acted like it never worked, on their github, while it worked well for a while...
Jellyfin was the best for my usecase, since I was able to stream my 4k feed with subtitles without loss and for free, simply using the LG app, but it has less features, or some are buggy. I'm still going with this solution.
