Something can be really good without needing memes churned out all the time. In fact, memes are a sign there's part of your film that aren't respected and are laughed at.

While you're right, I don't think its the problem. The Avatar films are just boring. They're technically impressive, but the average moviegoer doesn't care about how a movie is made or what goes into it. There was always a lot of hype behind the movies because of marketing and the names attached to it. It probably was a great experience watching it on IMAX, but the movies aren't really worth watching without it.

idk I'm tired and should go to sleep.

My most explicit critique of James Cameron, bordering on hatred, is that he's utterly losing a comparison with James Cameron

The question is why does Avatar suck fucking dick compared to the iconic movies the same guy made thirty years earlier
The answer is he has the same disease that gave us Prometheus, The Irishman, Cosmopolis, etc.

The Avatar series are true movies. If it was 1995 you would go watch a movie, talk about it for a day, and then move on with life. When the first Avatar came out, we were in a transitional period. Most people still treated it like they treated all the other movies. But this internet-driven culture of discourse was emerging. You couldn't just watch a movie and move on, you had to dwell on it. You had to analyze it, break it down, argue with it, argue with other people. By the time Avatar 2 came out, that's everyone. Everyone online is the neurotic over-analyzer who can't move past a single movie without having their tweet thread validated by everyone else.

Cameron made kino after kino for 15 years then has spent the last 30 making 3 boring as fuck movies that are only good on a technical level. Like Nolan he got too up his own ass about the art of film making or whatever the fuck and has forgotten that the primary purpose of a movie is to be entertaining.

The message of Dww and Avatar is completely different, Dww is just an excuse for every fat Scots Irish American to feel a little better about wiping an entire people off a continent. Avatar on the other hand is telling you that you have to do eco terrorism to ever have a chance of being a real human being.

A lot of bitching and moaning itt about Avatar but you're all going to have to cope hard again when the third one comes out again and Jimmy C makes another gagjillion dollars

How is "cultural impact" being measured? Because people are talking about something? If the comparison is something like Avatar to MCU and they're suggesting the latter has more cultural impact because it's talked about more frequently it's probably to do with the fact the latter has movies released on a conveyer belt and just keeps churning out new slop to keep it in the public's mind.

The movies don't leave people with a lot of "unanswered questions" that are there specifically to get fans talking and generate buzz for the next film or episode, eg Lost, Doctor Who, Squid Game 3.

There is no pre-existing canon and no extended universe to speak of, what you see on the screen in the film is more or less the extent of the world and plot at that point in time. There was a few video games, but these do nothing to expand the plot and are 1st person shooters basically, which means few people bothered to play them and the people making them couldn't even be bothered to make a proper avatar for the player (oh the irony).

Almost everyone is an alien, so you can't get chuds activated over there being some ethnic group or sexual deviance they dislike in the movie (eg. "A drag queen??? In a movie I wasn't going to watch??? This is WOKE, they will feel my wrath!!!").

Its a good film, with stunning visuals. Its not the greatest kino ever made but its certainly a treat for the senses and plot isn't too complicated for mid-wits to follow. You see it, feel better for the experience and move on with your life. But will be interested to see more if its offered. Thats how films used to be.

I watched avatar in the cinema in 2009 and I remember nothing but the giant yellow machine and the main guy with no legs getting into a pod. I do remember the 3D gimmick being quite crazy and reminding me of a planetarium (being given the glasses). If a movie was immediately forgotten by a 5 year old boy and never watched again, then it clearly cannot be anything good. I had and still have no desire to see the sequel, because 3D cinema is completely dead (and has been since around 2010ish). I remembered way more about Son of The Mask for fuck sake, and actually rewatched that and would rewatch it again. Who gives a shit what normgroids on twitter talk about, they watch slop like love island and discuss it en masse all day, everyday. There was no cultural impact besides introducing 3D for those few short years.

Post didn't make any statement over WOKE being bad or good, thats all in your head.

Studios have so much WOKE stuff put in their films because activating people who get overly animated about something that is mainly just a shallow marketing tool is a quick, cheep way to get a film noticed on the internet. The trick is not to overdo it or show the WOKE bit too early, else it will be too big a snowball by the time the film comes out, which is the mistake Indiana Jones 5 made, when it put the one WOKE joke in the whole film in its first trailer.

>Prometheus, The Irishman, Cosmopolis, etc.
Now let's not lie too much, alright? Avatars are still magnitudes better movies than those you mentioned.
In fact Avatars are still better than everything directors considered the best (Nolan, Villeneuve) nowadays made.
It's just that early Cameron made literally incomparable masterpieces. That's why you feel like he got worse. He did, but it's not "From 10/10 to 4/10" case you are trying to portray it as, but "From 11/10 to 9/10" one.

I'd rather watch something shamelessly megaschizo, laughable, and sui generis like Megalopolis over Avatar anyday.

WOKE = objectively bad
The opposite of woke is normality.
Having few woke in a movie is like having few pieces of shit in your plate
Everyone normal rejects it

They do. The new one is already set to make two billies this winter. It's the only good movie worth seeing in theaters in the last two years kek.
