The real reason why Arcane dropped in quality is because Tencent lost a lot of money during covid and when China created a limitation for underage gamers. Tencent panicked and forced everyone to cut cost and increase monetization in anticipation of further loses. Then Riot announced Arcane is going to be only a 2 season show. This forced the writers to rush every plot they've written for more than 10 years. Yes Ekko saving Jinx was even hinted back in the 2013 in a League trailer. I think the writers should've simplified the story instead of jamming every idea in Season 2.

I didn't particularly like season 1 either, but it was entertaining enough and solid overall. However, in the second season, they just kept having epic moments that work as individual scenes but not as part of a greater whole.
Vi joining the force with Heavy is the Crown playing in the background? I was genuinely hyped over that scene, like "Yeeeeah!! They're teaming up! Go get 'em!". Literally the next episode they break up, just like when Vi teamed up with the muscular brown guy for about 10 minutes before bickering and ending their alliance.
Vander died in Season 1. Powerful stuff. Oh wait, he's resurrected as a monster. But then we have that great scene where he recognizes Powder and hugs her in monster form. Powerful stuff. Oh wait, he goes insane next episode. OP's picture happens, this side character who never did anything dies while flashbacks play showing us how much time they spent (that we never saw) together in a beautifully crafted scene. Isha sacrifices herself to kill Vander. Powerful stuff. Oh wait, Vander is back again. Jynx has to sacrifice herself to kill him again again again.
I noticed this pattern after a few episodes and I started making jokes like "I wonder how they're gonna render this scene irrelevant next episode", and it ALWAYS happened. The only reason I thought Jynx's death was powerful was that the show ended before they were able to revive her an episode later, but apparently there's already theories and evidence of her somehow dashing away after falling.

Something I noticed about season 2 that no one talks about is how it fails for an advertisement of the game itself.
The first season dint try to advertise the game but made you hype enough to play it especially with the new added skins that make cheaters look like from that show.
S2 actively attempts to hype you up for the game by announcing ambesa(black warrior granny) as a character and then having her daughter Mel be a playable character later on.
But I did not care playing as them because when they in the final would finally show off what these characters can do ends up pretty boring.
For example ambesa only pulls away some dudes shield and then dies in a fight against Caitlin who was wounded (which btw made no fucking sense, how does a warrior trained in hand to hand combat lose against her wounded pupil she only trained for a month at least)
And then Mel's magic abilities were never really clear what they did as she for the most part only force push people but in a very boring way.
In general the final should be hype as fuck with an epic battle but all the stuff the characters do looked so fucking boring
