the joke is that the viewer thinks they went through the whole book from A to Z and called everyone in town to tell them about it, but its then revealed that actually, they only called the first one (A.Aaronson should put this guy right at the top) and the last one (Zukovski, most likely last one in the telephone book) because they are the gossip spreaders.
