>good person leads army
>army wins

>bad person leads army
>army loses

This is Tolkienโ€™s logic

Yes.
Tolkien had clear distinctions between good and evil and had good triumph over evil in the end.

Denethor wasn't a bad person, he was just mindbroken.
Pretty much all of Denethor's struggle is left out of the movies.

Christianity is infantilizing and that's why all Christian authors are midwits at best, yes.

Matthew 18:3-5
>and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye turn, and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Denethor is neither a bad person nor a bad leader, in the book he makes sound decisions based on the information he has available
he just had to deal with Sauron, a supernaturally gifted manipulator, fucking with his mind for decades

It's where the movie goes completely wrong with his characterization, Denethor's fall was never meant to show his "weakness" it was meant to show Sauron's strength, in that he could bring low even a figure so strong as Denethor

>is he talking about goodness and innocence? No, it's about intelligence!
Plese don't call others midwits, midwit. Literally the simplest figurative language he could have used and it went straight over your head.

ignoring that is this lord of the rings and very much good/evil. When did Denethor lead an army? How is Denethor bad? You not think the guy doom maxxing so much he refused to believe his son wasnt dead, was right in the head?

If you are a book reader and you squint while watching the movies while keeping the book backstory in mind its not that bad, just far too narrow. Still even with the limited time they had it could have been done better.

As opposed to GRRM's "better logic"

>"All Le Bad people...ALWAYS WIN!"

>"All Le Good people...ALWAYS LOSE!"

It's the exact same bullshit, only GRRM is an infantile little nihilist angst baby

I remember one quote he has a character give where he says something like
>In reality, the side with the bigger army wins the fight. All the notions of courage and honor and valiance are fables
And this just isn't even remotely true. As often as not, historically, the smaller army won exactly because they were better or more courageous or whatever. Even his grim 'real talk' was bs.

He ordered the army to charge the Orcs, Grief and Despair kind of made him mad and cruel. It's not as simplistic as "he was just a shit for shit's sake" but he'd clearly become a bad person to the point the emissary of God was backhanding him for that nonsense.

yes, because even though it was fantasy, Tolkein liked to keep things realistic. Read a history book sometime.

Here's a nice example.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Berestechko

>200,000 (Cossacks/Russians/Tatars) vs. 80,000 (Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth)
>Losses: 30,00-40,000 killed (Cossacks/Russians/Tatars) vs. 700 killed (Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth)
