OP should watch Alien vs. Predator first to appreciate the similiarities with Prometheus.

Even though Ridley Scott is probably the most overrated hack that ever came out of Hollywood and peaked with his first two movies, Prometheus is underrated. It isnt nearly as bad as filtered 35 year olds pretend it is. Just the utterance of "official Alien lore" should let you know what kind of person has a problem with this movie.

The characters aren't that stupid. The biologist that people love to harp on acted like a real biologist. They get close to animals and they dont expect small worm like creatures to have super strength and acid spit that can melt through ppe. It has some spooky scenes. The worst you can say about it is it's kind of slow but it picks up in the second half. It's a better movie than most of Ridleys trash people pretend is good like Kingdom of Heaven.
