There is absolutely no way this room is reaching any kind of consensus. It would take a month for everyone just to speak

You don't need 100% consensus nor does everyone need to voice their opinion. Proxies and blocs do that.

Most star systems aren't represented you stupid mouth-breathing mongoloid, that's why the Old Republic failed, read the fucking lore. It's not really a full democracy, it's a collection of Core World aristocrats, trading cartels, guilds and corporations that bought their seats and most planets don't have a voice.

Jar Jar has a seat that represents over a hundred populated star systems with no voice, just because Naboo is rich, it's all incredibly disfunctional and that's the point.

Mega structures have existed throughout human existence historylet. The LOTR statues aren't even that impressive, they were carved out of mountains which has always been one of the easiest ways to make giant statues. IRL the ancients made bigger ones out of metal.

The only thing that fantasy settings consistently get wrong is communications and logistics.

If anything it's the opposite retard, the Core Worlds were overrepresented and the Outer Rim was paying taxes with little representation and no Republic services. That's why many systems followed the Separatists into seccession.

> The Rim Faction, led by Orn Free Taa, was one of the two major factions of senators and representatives in the Galactic Senate during the last years of the Galactic Republic. Majority of its membership were predominantly from the Outer Rim.
> Most of the Rim Faction's members were non-Human, and astrographically, most came from the Outer Rim as well as the Mid Rim, and also the various special interest groupsโ€”such as the Techno Union, Commerce Guild, Corporate Alliance, and Trade Federation.
> They were a politically conservative faction and so advocated reducing the power and influence of the Republic government. As such, they commonly stood for the maximization of planetary sovereignty, placing them in direct opposition to the Core Faction, who favored greater centralization of power. Fiscally, the Rim Faction advocated for economic liberalism, thus supporting free trade, low taxes, minimal restrictions on enterprise, and the deregulation of markets.
Honestly the politics in Star Wars are kino

> The Rim Faction were strong opponents of Chancellor Finis Valorum, and were quick to seize upon his weakness in the aftermath of the Eriadu Trade Summit disaster of 33 BBY. In the hope of restricting his ability to pass legislation unfavorable to them, Taa directed the Rim Faction to elect Mas Amedda, one of their own, into the powerful position of Vice Chair.
> The next year, it was the strong support of the Rim Faction for Amidala's vote of no confidence that enabled the toppling of Valorum and the ensuing election for Chancellor. Once more on the nomination of Taa, Palpatine, despite being independent of any Senate political grouping, was the Rim Faction's nominee for Chancellor. It is possible that because of his neutrality, a rogue section of the Rim Faction backed Ainlee Teem for Chancellor. However, Palpatine won.
> Taa's hope that Palpatine could be controlled, or at least counted on to not be a nuisance, were eventually realized as false when he ensured the Core Faction's attachment to him. During the Separatist Crisis and Clone Wars, a large number of the Rim Faction's membership seceded and joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems, either voluntarily or were expelled from the Senate. Other Rim Faction senators, such as Taa, Aks Moe, and Onaconda Farr, supported the Military Creation Act vigorously. Despite the continued loyalty of Taa and Amedda, this combined with Palpatine's courting of the Core faction resulted in great weakening of the Rim Faction.

They are but most of it is tucked away in obscure books that are now decanonized by Disney which is a shame.

The history of the Trade Federation is fucking interesting for example, they were born as an alliance of small shipping companies, free traders that wanted to break away from the monopolies of the big shipping companies, basically banding together so they could fight the big fees the monopolies charges, but over centuries the Nemoidians wormed their way to most positions of power, and the TF consolidated into a monopoly in itself, controlling most Outer Rim shipping, building its own ships and private armies, becoming what it set to destroy.

Even the Wookiees have their shady shit, since they are great navigators but their Claatuvaac Guild or however it's spelled, hoards all the knowledge it has acquired about secret hyperspace routes and refuses to share it with the Galaxy. (which comes in handy when Han and Chewbacca become smugglers since Chewie has their database, which eventually does get shared with the Rebels)

That's the whole idea, that the CIS was evil but they had a point. And the Empire was the also evil but a somewhat understandable backlash to the CIS. (ie. A villiain that makes sense)

Your initial point is still wrong, the Republic didn't fail because they gave citizenship to many aliens, it failed because it didn't follow the principle of no taxation without representation. Too many interest groups and bureaucracy and too many unrepresented "members" which were taxed but saw little benefit from it.

Basically the institutions were captured by Core World old money, corporations and guilds which bought their seats.
