are characters in films meant to have ordinary lives, conversations outside what we're seeing? or do they (and their actions/dialogue) only exist for a fleeting moment?

to get what i mean, when V shows up in V For Vendetta and does his whole

not in this case. pic related is how he introduces himself in the same scene. the movie dialed it up to bullshit for some reason

Gary Shandling had a segment like that on his old show. He starts the episode with doing his laundry or something, mentions all the exciting (unseen) stuff that just happened, and tells the audience they missed it.

i read the comic first, i fucking SWEAR he did the 'v' thing.

also one comic opened with a song with the actual sheet music, 'Vicious Cabaret' or whatever. put it in the film ;___;
