I once saw an actual episode of Takeshi’s Castle, it was interesting. All the contestants are on the same “team” as part of the Captain’s army trying to take the castle. The episode I saw ended with a three-way tie at the second to last event because nobody was able to make it.
MXC was much better than the original. Also the bong version SUCKED.

I used to watch this with my dad back in the day. Yeah it was silly, and I missed a lot of the jokes as a kid but I just liked the obstacle courses and such. Plus the high octane energy of the intro and bumpers.
As an adult this is the funniest thing ever.

I prefer the jap version over the american one, it is funny but it completely misses the point of the original which made it so casual to see.
Shame there's almost no subtitles for the original one sans 3 or 4 episodes. The pilot episode is particularly interesting because some of the contestants are Kitano's usual actors in his movies aka his daily crew, same with the control room dudes.

I mean it's a different kind of thing, comedy is a very hard genre because styles of humor vary a lot and they sometimes go against each other.
Hard to rec comedies because people have their own tastes, i find the original more natural and visual than the joke-driven american one.

MXC is and was amazing, and a product of it's time that will never be replaceable and i think one of the announcers died.

Takeshis castle was a drawn out, unedited boring version lacking any of the crass humor that the extremely small MXC team added, Im stating the obvious though.

The only criticism valid in the thread is about the same jokes over and over, but the show was best watched no more than 2 episodes at a time. I remember watching streams of it on sites like justintv and it getting old pretty quickly. There's also only so many episodes, maybe like 40? total. Easy to burn through all of them.

A little of the humor sucks, but as I said before, the team that "created" mxc was like 4 people and I don't remember if that was the entire writing team but I think it was.
credit where credit is due, the show is historic and the best branch off of takeshis that was ever created.
Other countries versions are absolute dogshit.
