Finally saw it and okay, THIS is the Best Picture winner I was expecting when seeing Part I. I still like the first part, but it absolutely felt prototypical. This is the true result. Story, characters, music, direction. All of it is doubled in quality from the original.

But above all else, it does one thing especially right, something fewer sequels do than you think - rewarding you for watching and remembering the original. Saw the first part a whole year ago and even then watching this with knowledge of Part I, everything clicked. AND it made me appreciate the first part a lot more than when I initially watched it.

All the 9's and 10's on the review sites lie not in the slightest. I cannot wait to see Part III.

I agree. I get into arguments all the time with my bro over part I vs part II. I think either is a fine choice, but for me it's II.
