Overall I enjoyed the movie, but in the most important area.
In JW3, Sofia was the greatest ever depiction of a female who can hang with stone cold killers, full stop. She had all the skills, yes, but was still utterly overpowered and outmatched by any man. She bridged the divide with her dogs, themselves an extension of her competence and discipline. Through them, she wasn't just made equal to men but was able to triumph in a situation of overwhelming odds.
In Ballerina, it is acknowledged super early on that Eve will always be overpowered but if she just "fights like a girl," meaning to "cheat" and "fight dirty," she will be be victorious. Aside from being undeniably girlboss bullshit, itself an absolute and abject failure, it is literally meaningless because no one she faces off with is doing so under the assumption it will be a formal battle adhering to rules and honor- it's all just a bunch of killers trying to kill by any means necessary. There is no way to "cheat" or "fight dirty." It's retarded.
That said, I do appreciate the mild lip service paid to Eve being weak and the outright lmao btfo that is her trying to take on John, and her not even getting a single blow in on him while he repeatedly established that he could kill her with hardly any effort.
