Try getting that on a shoe salesman salary now. You'll be living in the ghetto and on food stamps.

it wasn't unrealistic for the time period it was in though
plenty of boomers bought houses, married and started families with shitty jobs
you couldn't accomplish what al had then, now, especially with only 1 person in the household working

He mowed lawns or owned a landscaping company? Big difference between that and being a clerk at Payless in a mall.

You can, you just have to move out to the bumble fuck suburbs. The boomers bought all their houses there in the 70s and the populations of their cities doubled/tripled since then shit got built up around them. Or they bought places in the shitty part of the city and it got gentrified.
I bet some millennials who bought houses in the southern cities in the 2010s are jerking off to their house values after they got laughed at by all their friends who moved to NYC/LA/Seattle/etc and have never bought anything.

If you peg it to the price of gold, bare minimum wage in Boomer Times was equivalent to about $130/hour today. Even less generous estimates put it around $30/hour.

Its hard to properly convey just how better off boomers were. During the 60s-70s-80s it was possible to get hired off the street with no relevant experience, sometimes even without a degree, get trained on the job, then support an entire family and buy a suburban home, two cars etc. on a single wage. If they spent any of their money on decent houses, investments or a little stock portfolio, they inevitably became millionaires by now.

Then, in their greed they consumed up all the resources of the country, past, present and future, leaving a burned out husk and indifferent losers behind.

Yep. Save up your money, and buy a house in full, and then never leave it. Then you'll be just like me.
