Likely the ones you posted there if we're talking pre-2000s
However, there's a new competitor for the best space movie that will 100% turn up as a "classic" in the future called Ad Astra. Highly recommend. Interstellar is easily competing up there too.

The "big three" triology of greatest space movies is:
2001 (1968)
Contact (1997)
Interstellar (2014)
Of these, 2001 could stand alone as simply a work of fine art in its own right. The others are just 2 of the 3 greatest space movies.

What a waste of 2 hours. Mr. Garrison from South Park covered my feelings on that.

The opinion of anyone who watches South Park can be safely ignored as worthless.

The ending sucked. I will never watch that film again unless there's a hefty cash prize in it for me.

kindof a loaded question. A lot of sci-fi movies have space as a backdrop to the plot. Is the 5th Element a "space" movie? If you can put Ad Astera and Intersteller next to 2001, i'ma gonna include Darkstar and Martian.

The ending of all of them sucked. Because the movies were so great, it was the prior 99% that made them so. Just like No Country for Old Men.

2001 and Alien had good endings.
Technically, The Empire Strikes Back has a bad ending, but we're emotionally manipulated into feeling that it was a great ending.
