Brec was the best part of the film. And then they swapped her out with a mutt. Movie was kino up until that point.

Ultimately, I think they screwed up by not making Devon Sawa a recurring character, like JLC in the Halloween flicks.

Having just rewatched them, the quality drop is immense in 2 already. Having a survivor is a good premise but they do little with it. They try to expand the “rules” of the franchise but it’s just more convoluted shit. People remember and love the big crash at the start and it’s the peak of the entire movie.

3 and 4 are just horseshit. Nothing clever about them. 5 is a mild return to form that bothers to try and reconnect with the original which rounded things out neatly.

Not yet seen Bloodlines. They coulda done so much more with Tony Todd in this franchise but he just keeps popping up to give vague lore drops.

The movies don't NEED to be clever. And 5 was only slightly better than 4. It introduced the retarded muh kill or be killed rule and had the worst opener of all alongside some of the lamest death scenes of the franchise.

I thought the prequel was pretty cool. The deaths weren't nearly as cool, but introducing the new rule of being able to take someone's remaining lifespan as a way to delay death is a pretty cool concept that I believe they carried over into the new one.

It wouldnt surprise me if they added this in because Erik was the best character in that movie, even if he looked like an annoying faggot. Everyone else was just a basic literally who so its no wonder they gave him the best death scene and a decent fake out death as well.
