for once, you might not be the core demographic. For once, the main character doesn't look like you. For once, her world isn't built around your identity. But for literally the entire history of this franchise and most mainstream media, you have been the assumed audience. The default protagonist. The everyman. The hero, the villain, the anti-hero, the comic relief, the sidekick, the scientist, the general, the king, the god. You've been all of it (Yes, I know this isn’t literally the first non-white maleled MCU project. “For once” is a turn of phrase. The point is that it’s still rare enough to feel notable.)
And the rest of us? We watched. We watched Iron Man, and Thor, and Doctor Strange, and Captain America. We watched white guy after white guy get a trilogy and a spinoff and a redemption arc. We watched your stories without needing them to be about us in order to enjoy them. Nobody needed to say, "I'm not the target demographic for Iron Man." We knew. But we still watched. We still cared.
