After many rewatches I filtered plenty of episodes I just don't want to watch.

I watched half the movie and turned it off because it was like the worst tropes and tics of the show maximized. Mulder even says "In 5 years how many times have I been wrong? Zero" and she accedes. Her dialogue is entirely "You can't just..." "I'm giving up xyz for this"

I can understand that. Episodes like 3 or Blood were lame, but then you get stuff like The Host, Sleepless, Duane Barry or Ascension.

But yeah, ideally, you want Mulder and Scully together in an episode. To me, Season 5 suffers a bit from this (because every now and then they needed Duchovny or Anderson in LA for pickups and reshoots for the movie).

As far as I'm concerned M&S every hooking up is non-canon fanfiction.

1st season is dumber. for me it worked as a 90s time capsule, but yeah i was also thinking it didn't age well. but has some pretty good episodes towards the end, and season finale is a classic.
things get much better from 2nd season season onwards. myth episodes are less stupid and best writers (bravo vince and darin morgan) begin to work in the series. first one wrote a lot of episodes and its a factory of good ideas that makes kino after kino. darin made only 4 episodes (then two more in the revival) but they make fun of the dumber tone of the first episodes, he ''deconstructs' the show as a city slicker would say, and they are still hilarious (and pretty depressing which is an interesting combination).
so in the end i think it holds up pretty well and im glad i didnt tap out in 1st season.
